Isothermal grain growth in Ca 0.16 Zr 0.84 O 1.84 , a cubic solid solution of the fluorite type, was studied between 1600° and 2000°C. The grain size increased as the 0.4 power of time. The growth rate was found to be slower than in metals. The activation energy for grain‐boundary migration was about 80 kcal per mole. The influence of sintering atmosphere on grain growth is shown.
