Longitudinal and transverse velocities of sound in [100] and [110] directions were measured at 80 to 400 K in single crystals of the isostructural monosilicides of Co, Mn, and Fe and in polycrystalline CrSi. The temperature dependences of the elastic constants and moduli for CoSi, MnSi, and CrSi were described by a theoretical equation. Values of θD(0) were found by extrapolating the elastic constants and moduli to 0 K. The anomalous temperature dependences of elastic constants of FeSi, the behaviour of Grüneisen coefficients, and the phonon frequency distribution in the monosilicides studied are discussed.
