A solvothermal route was employed for the syntheses of nanocrystalline Sb 2 Se 3 from the single source precursor Sb[Se 2 P(O i Pr) 2 ] 3 at different temperatures. The products were shown to be nanowires by electron microscopy, and the composition was confirmed as Sb 2 Se 3 by powder X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The diameter and length of the nanowires were extended at 150 °C, as compared to 100 °C in the solvothermal process. The direct band gap energy of the nanowires was estimated by absorption spectroscopy to be 1.49 eV. Structural elucidation of the precursor Sb[Se 2 P(O i Pr) 2 ] 3 was completed by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
