In this study, the bandgap energy of the benzimidazobenzophenanthroline (BBL) molecule was investigated by employing the density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP/cc-pVDZ basis set. Bandgap energy of BBL molecule are calculated by using Gaussian09 software. HOMO–LUMO analysis has been done in order to determine the bandgap energy and offered boundary molecular orbital. The most exceptional work is applied to visible ultraviolet, radiation the basis of the electron transmission of BBL and the bandgap energy based on the ultraviolet radiation of the Tauc plot. According to the experimental work, the first attempt has been tried to dissolve the BBL in water and sulfuric acid, BBL molecule was not dissolved in extraordinary solvents. The BBL polymer was dissolved in a 13 mL acid methane solution. Next, to obtain the most suitable solution, the BBL solution was filtered by a PTFE layer. In the end, we read UV spectra to resolve the BBL using a spectrophotometer (Shimadzu UV-1800 model). The comparison between the theoretical and experimental UV-vis absorption spectrum obtained using Tauc plot and transmittance, maximum absorbance, electron transition and bandgap energy.
