Ion-selective electrodes of trivalent metal ions La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), and Gd(III) have been fabricated using rare-earth hydroxamate complexes. These electrodes have been systematically characterized by the electrode response, response time, pH range and selectivity coefficients of closely associated metals. The electrode response and stability in nonaqueous medium have been studied.
