The substitution of a sulfonyl moiety of allylidene disulfones by various nucleophiles (PhSNa, PhSO 2 Na, H 2 O and R 2 NH) leads toγ‐functionalized ( E )‐vinyl sulfones. The stereospecific reduction of 3‐hydroxy‐( E )‐1‐propenyl sulfones affords ( Z )‐allylic alcohols in greater than 98% purity.
