Position paper proposes a framework for studying coupled dynamics of subject development and knowledge emergence, suggesting implications for epistemic organization.
This position paper proposes a limited field-theoretic framework for studying subject develop ment and knowledge emergence. Individuals begin with heterogeneous biological and historical organization, acquire slower history-dependent structure, and participate in an endogenous social nomos represented as a field on a declared relational domain. A coupled stochastic system makes these commitments operational. Linearization yields a convergent reciprocal-response expansion under a finite-horizon small-gain condition, and normalized aggregation yields a conditional single-agent scaling bound. A Martin–Siggia–Rose response functional places the classical system within a field-theoretic calculus. A separate Schwinger–Keldysh and Feynman–Vernon derivation shows how a genuinely quantum open-field model can generate retarded memory and noise kernels. This quantum extension has formal content only after quantum states, operator observables, measurement rules, and discriminating evidence are supplied. Subject continuity is represented provisionally through intervention-indexed response equivalence. Candidate epistemic organiza tion requires acquired, persistent, transferable, robust, and intervention-sensitive history effects; knowledge attribution additionally requires kind-specific epistemic standards. The framework is a revisable research instrument. It derives response structure while leaving phenomenology, personal identity, semantic content, and quantum ontology open.
