It is well established that at a given level of cell survival fractionation reduces the effect of low LET radiation more than that of high LET radiation. However, theoretical considerations indicate that at a given absorbed dose fractionation should result in an increase of cell survival by a factor that is substantially independent of radiation quality. Experimental data confirm this expectation.
