Electronic medical records (EMR) are seen as a way to simplify the management of patient information, increase productivity and lower costs associated with medical information management. The implementation of the EMR system in healthcare facilities has not only provided potential benefits to improved quality of care, but there are significant factors to consider associated with human factors, ergonomics, workflows and environmental conditions. These factors should be considered to improve the quality and cost of patient care, as well as employee and patient safety.
