The ionization potential of LiD was determined as I.P.(LiD) =7.7±0.1 eV, from which a binding energy D°0(Lid+) =0.14±0.1 eV results. From measurements of the gas equilibrium Li2(g)+D2(g) ?2LiD(g) over dilute solutions of deuterium in liquid lithium a value for the dissociation energy D00(LiD) =2.49±0.04 eV was obtained.
