From revolution and civil war, through violent social transformation, devastating hot war and debilitating cold war, the Soviet economic system has evolved. Concerned about its deficiencies but convinced of its essential superiority, Soviet political leaders offer this system to the world. It is, they assert, a more just, certain and rapid route to industrialization and economic abundance.
