In September, 1969, a clinical trial was begun at the State Department of Health's Venereal Disease Clinic, Melbourne, with the aim of testing the efficacy of the two antibiotics, 'Mysteclin V' and 'Vibramycin' (doxycycline), as compared with pro- caine penicillin and with each other in the treatment of acute uncomplicated gonorrhoea in men.
