A new butyrophenone preparation produced ichthyosis in a small sample of white patients but not in any of the Negro patients receiving it. Hair loss, which was total in 2 of the subiects with ichthyosis, was reversible. Cholesterol values were cOnsistently lower during therapy than in four separate postdrug samples. Although the effects closely resemble those of triparanol (MER/29), the two are not chemically related.
