Winds above 200 km were measured from observations of vapor trails and compared with winds deduced from observation of satellite orbital changes and with a theoretical model. During evening twilight about one-half of the vapor trail observations are in agreement with the satellite results and the model predictions. During morning twilight all observations from the trails agree with the model.
