Evidence from a variety of sources is presented to show the dates of inception of twelve salt-marshes on the North Norfolk coast. Sources include air-photographs, maps, radiocarbon dates and archaeological evidence. Marsh inception is shown to range from 2000+ years ago to the present day. Three major periods of marsh inception are recognized which maybe tentatively related to minor fluctuations in the Holocene transgression.
