The bonding nature of zinc-blende and rocksalt crystal structures are studied using pseudopotentials. NaCl and GaAs are used as prototypes and the characteristics of NaCl assumed to be in both crystal structures are studied. It is shown that the properties of the psedopotential can be used to help predict crystal structure.
