Levels of natural alpha and gamma emitting radionuclides ((228)Ac, (214)Pb and (40)K) were measured in beach sands from samples collected in 1998-2000 from the beaches of Mazagón and Doñana National Park (on the Southwest Coast of Spain). The external radiation dose rate received by the population was estimated from these levels.
