A statistical method for determining the orientation of magnetic axes of symmetry for the periodic magnetic stars on the assumption that they are oblique dipole rotators leads to a large value for the characteristic magnetic inclination. This result can be construed to mean that the regions of maximum magnetic intensity are located near the rotational equator whether or not the magnetic field is dipolar.
