Explores digital creativity through narrative game design workshops in an academic library, suggesting effective resource utilization.
Academic libraries have recognized the value of promoting digital creativity, though limited research has been conducted on game design activities in libraries. Similarly, creative writing educators have increasingly integrated game design tools and approaches into the classroom, but there has been little discussion on how libraries can supplement this curriculum. To explore these topics, we ran two digital fiction game jams, events where students created and shared original narrative games in a university library media lab. We found the library in our case study to be a conducive space for providing students with the resources and technologies to advance their skills in creating and sharing narrative games.
