The kinetics of the formation of NaDS micelles between 7.5 and 20 °C was investigated using a pressure jump apparatus. The theoretical prediction that 1/τ increases linearly with increasing NaDS concentrations could not be confirmed. Instead, the relaxation process becomes detectible at concentrations well below the cmc. There 1/τ increases rather steeply, to flatten off in a convex curve. The addition of water structure breakers like Urea, Biuret or Pyridol accelerates the relaxation process, while solubilization of Octanol slows down the process.
