Phylogeny of the Thysanoptera (Insecta) from the Ontogenetical Standpoint The Thysanoptera constitute a monophyletic group on the basis of an analysis of 40 character states of different ontogenetic phases of species of European Thysanoptera families. In the result of some numerical methods, the Panchaetothripinae and Thripinae show a sister‐group relationship. The position of the Mero‐ and Aolothripidae within the monophyletic Terebrantian suborder is very difficult and should be a problem for the future.
