Raman spectra of three readily available C-type stoichiometric rare-earth sesquioxide powders of composition Ln 2 O 3 are presented. Some correlations of spectra with body-cell structure and infrared absorption spectra have been made. Spectra of Eu 2 O 3 , Dy 2 O 3 , and Tm 2 O 3 display several new peaks that have not as yet been reported. Assignments of certain peaks to electronic Raman and resonance Raman transitions are discussed.
