This study critically examines academic literature on air baggage operations to address complex challenges impacting passenger experience, including security, operational efficiency, and economic factors. Through scientometric analysis of 89 Scopus-indexed studies and 37 on Google Scholar. Key research trends in security/tracking technologies, economic impacts of baggage fees, and operational efficiency are identified. Persistent issues like inter-organizational coordination, mishandling, and technological limitations are highlighted. Policy implications suggest integrated systems, advanced RFID/AI implementation, and revised baggage fee structures balancing cost and service quality for enhanced traveler satisfaction and industry streamlining.
