Hydrophilic CuInS ₂ and CuInS ₂ –ZnS colloidal quantum dots were directly synthesized using in situ generated H ₂ S as the sulphur source and DMF as the solvent. Short chain thiols were applied as capping ligands, reactivity controlling agents and sulphur sources for the growth of the ZnS shell.
