A theoretical study has been made of the axially symmetric oscillations in a bounded beam-plasma system. The external magnetic field is assumed to apply along the symmetry axis and the dynamic character of wave fields is taken into account. The excitation of plasma oscillations in a waveguide is investigated in the presence of a low density beam passing near the axis. Frequencies and growth rates have been obtained for the quasi-static approximation, for `whistler mode' and magnetohydrodynamic waves.
