The construction industry is one of the largest producers of CO 2 , often using nonrenewable resources. Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a renewable resource that stores CO 2 throughout the building life cycle, making the construction process more efficient. Since RC frame buildings are used worldwide, using CLT panels as infill on such buildings could significantly contribute to a sustainable society. However, there are still not enough studies to investigate the performance of RC frames with CLT infill, and an established analytical model to simulate the performance of such structures hasn't been developed. Thus, this study was performed with the main objectives of investigating the seismic performance of RC frames with CLT infill and proposing an appropriate analytical model. For detailed investigation, two 40 % scale RC frame specimens were prepared with main parameters as presence/absence of CLT infill panels confined by the boundary frame. Horizontal static cyclic loading experiments were conducted on these specimens, and the experimental results were discussed. Additionally, an analytical macro-model was proposed to simulate them. It was confirmed that the addition of the CLT infill significantly increases the seismic performance of the RC frame in terms of capacity and initial stiffness. The applicability of the proposed analytical model was then verified by comparing the experimental and analytical results. The comparison showed that the load-deformation relationship and the failure mechanism agreed well with limited error. Thus, the model can be used to evaluate the seismic performance of the RC frames with CLT infill.
