Identifies kidney survival impact of renal-limited thrombotic microangiopathy in various conditions, suggesting the importance of early diagnosis.
Systemic presentations of thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) are becoming more recognized in the setting of thrombocytopenia and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) with end organ damage [1]. Renal-limited TMA is often more challenging. It is more common in certain clinical scenarios, including: glomerulonephritis, solid organ or bone marrow transplantation, pregnancy, autoimmune disease, malignancy, infection, and drug exposure [2, 3]. Correct identification and disease modifying therapy impact kidney survival.
