Based on the electromagnetic interaction of the peripheral field between two solenoids, a new electromagnetic mechanism is proposed with preferable merits of simple structure, easy optimisation and high controllability. A spatial interaction coefficient is specifically defined to describe the electromagnetic coupling scenario between the moving and the fixed coils constituting the mechanism, which has greatly simplified the mathematical model and further forms the theoretical basis to realise optimal design and instantaneous speed control of the mechanism. Computational simulations coincide well with the prototype test results with small relative errors, which demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed analytical model.
