Development study demonstrates automated compliance review using BIM and Dynamo in hydraulic steel gate design, indicating improved verification accuracy over manual 2D drawing reviews.
This study develops an automated compliance review plug-in based on BIM and Dynamo to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of steel gate design review for hydropower stations. While reviewing traditional 2D drawings is inefficient and error-prone, this study establishes a closed-loop review process by constructing a standardized information model, extracting BIM data, structurally converting specification clauses, and using Dynamo to enable automated logical comparison. Case validation shows that this method can efficiently assess gate component size, material selection, structural strength, and other indicators, and the results are reliable and in line with specification requirements. The study extends the application of BIM-based compliance review from building engineering to hydraulic steel gate design and provides a practical approach for automated design verification.
