This study concerns the impact of relocation on the health of chronic care patients. Health was measured in terms of clinical information routinely recorded in patients' medical files. Relocation had neither a positive nor a negative effect on 13 of the 18 health measures investigated. On four measures it had a positive effect, particularly among those patients who were relatively young, had good morale, and were satisfied with their new surroundings. The only negative effect was experienced by elderly patients.
