This review provides a comprehensive overview of polymers. It was highlighted that it possesses unique characteristic and broad capabilities that make it eligible for use in various applications, and this is attributed to the composition of these polymers.Polymers are materials found everywhere and classified into three categories: natural polymers for example cellulose, starch, cotton, silk, natural rubber, and semi-synthetic and synthetic polymers, such as nylon, PVC, and others. Its use has extended to most aspects of modern life due to its characteristics, such as its low cost, high specific strength, and light weight, in addition to its flexibility and ease of formation, which made its use in daily life easy and convenient, as it has entered into many applications such as the fields of medicine, cosmetics, packaging, agriculture, and water treatment applications.Sanitation, aerospace applications, automobiles, marine structures, construction, electrical and electronic fields, and corrosion inhibitors. They were used as substitutes for metals.Due to the development in manufacturing, the high and continuous demand for polymers, and the growing world population, there has been great progress in developing polymers for use in other fields.
