Observations of the differential propagation constant in snow are reported. These observations, made with circularly-polarized radars, indicate that the principal effect of anisotropy is to produce a differential phase shift. A value of0.36 kilometer has been obtained for propagation through snow at a wavelength of 10.4 cm; at 1.8 cm values ranging from0.161.17 kilometer were observed in moderate to heavy snow.
