This report is one of few on the results of CPR in hospital, as opposed to studies of arrest out of hospital. The table presents those factors from which one can predict survival or death from an arrest. Some were to be expected, such as hypotension before, during, and after the event, renal failure, and a prolonged resuscitation period. Others were surprises, such as pneumonia and a homebound life style. Those who left hospital mentally intact had a decrease in functional capacity and were depressed, with only the latter gradually resolving.
