Highlights the massive global disparities in access to safe anesthesia and outlines educational interventions to address this gap.
Despite progress over the past decade, access to safe, affordable surgical and anesthesia care remains out of the reach of the majority of the world’s population. While anesthesia resources across the globe are significant, massive disparities exist between countries. In this infographic, we review the prevalence of this global problem, describe the basic requirements for safe anesthesia care, and highlight some of the key requirements for providing effective educational interventions across cultural and geographical boundaries. In addition, we describe some of the educational opportunities offered by the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists.
