Interferometric noise in fiber-optic grating sensors isinvestigated. Interference between a signal wave and reflectedwaves causes signal fluctuation in the output that limits thewavelength detection accuracy of the sensing system. Themeasurement error limited by interferometric noise is calculated forboth reflective-type and transmission-type sensors.
