A study of the nutritional status of 75 frail elderly revealed that 36% were on special diets,60.7% had problems adhering to them, and 92% of diets were below the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for calcium. Findings suggest increasing dairy products, fruits, and vegetables; increasing nutrient dense foods while lowering caloric intake of obese elderly; and increasing exercise. A model for improving communication between nutritionists and other professionals is included.
