Homogeneous alignment of ferroelectric liquid crystal molecules in a cell has been successfully established utilizing thin drawn polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) film as coating material of an electrode. The effect of poling of the film and the electro-optical behaviour of this cell have also been clarified.
