Analysis of the records of 1000 oestrous cycles in the normal unmated mouse give the following results : Mean length of whole cycle = 6 ·213 ± 0 ·0554 days. Mean length of dioestrus (including meta-oestrus) = 3 ·719 ± 0 ·0502 days. Mean length of oestrus (including pro-oestrus) = 2 ·494 ± 0 ·0223 days.
