A new medium for the isolation and differentiation of the histotoxic Clostridia commonly encountered in clinical specimens is described. The medium contains lecithin and lactose, and is made selective by the addition of neomycin and sodium azide. A simplified scheme for the speciation of these Clostridia is presented.
