The rates of absorption of CO 2 in aqueous solutions of AMP (2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol) were measured using a stirred tank with a plane gas-liquid interface at three temperature levels between 20 and 40°C, especially at low CO 2 partial pressure up to 10 kPa. The absorption rate data under the fast-reaction regime were analyzed by chemical absorption theory to clarify the kinetics of the reaction between CO 2 and AMP. To evaluate the order of reaction and the rate constant, the combined parameter (D 1/2 /H) for N 2 O was measured using a laminar liquid-jet absorber in the same temperature range. The reaction was found to be of first-order in CO 2 and AMP. The second-order reaction rate constants at 20, 30 and 40°C were determined to be 190, 369 and 740 m 3 /kmol.s, respectively. The activation energy had a value of 51.5 kJ/mol
