The purpose of this study was to evaluate a new instrument, the Counseling Expectation Inventory, designed to measure prognostic expectation, using multitrait-multimethod analysis. The results were discussed relative to improving the Counseling Expectation Inventory as an index of prognostic expectation, and suggestions were offered for using this instrument for further research.
