Single-crystalline nanowires of BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 have been synthesized by a hydrothermal method from all-inorganic, low-cost raw materials, without a structure-directing template. The nanowires have a phase-pure, cubic perovskite structure, with diameters in the range of 50–200 nm and lengths of a few to tens of micrometers. The growth mechanism is also investigated. As we use a simple procedure under mild conditions, scaling the process up for large-scale production should be very easy.
