Improved high-yield syntheses of trimethylphosphane-borane, -monochloroborane and -monobromoborane are described. The first process utilizes the reaction of trimethylphosphane with monoborane generated in situ. The latter preparations are by reaction of trimethylphosphane with the tetrahydrofuran adduct of monochloroborane and by the reaction of trimethyl-phosphane-borane with gaseous hydrogen bromide in solution, respectively.
