The major problems associated with the spectrographic analysis of biological samples are 1) the methods of sampling, 2) the preparation of the samples for analysis, and 3) the selection of a satisfactory spectrographic technique. The latter two are not independent considerations. For example, an oxidation procedure yielding sulfate solutions could not be combined conveniently with the copper spark technique in as much as sulfate solutions cannot be evaporated on copper electrodes without undue oxidation effects.
