Zinctetramethylpyridylporphyrin (ZnTMPyP 4+ ) in acidic aqueous solution sensitizes efficiently oxygen generation by visible light in the presence of acceptors such as Fe 3+ ‐ and Ag + ‐ions and colloidal RuO 2 /TiO 2 redox catalyst. Hydrogen and oxygen are cogenerated under visible light illumination of ZnTMPyP 4+ solutions when a bifunctional catalyst (Pt and RuO 2 codeposited onto TiO 2 ) is employed.
