For Pt. VII see abstr. A5178 of 1969. The rate parameters of naphthalene fluorescence quenching by biacetyl in ten solvents of viscosity eta =0.34 to 172 cP have been determined from relative fluorescence yield and lifetime measurements. The data are consistent with electron-exchange interaction quenching with a range of 11 AA, and with diffusion coefficients given by the Stokes-Einstein relation, except for liquid paraffin.
