The method presented permits the determination of the equilibrium distribution of low molar mass liquids in polymer dispersions using ultrasonic velocity data. As a result the monomer concentration at the reaction locus (monomer swollen polymer particle) can be calculated. The influence of additives on the equilibrium distribution of monomers is discussed. The Flory‐Huggins interaction parameter of the estimated system (monomer/polymer) in swollen latex can be determined.
