Violence and insecurity are two of the most critical issues in Mexico, making it essential to examine their impact on the attribution of responsibility to the sitting president. For that purpose, this research focuses on the study of the first 100 days of Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s (AMLO) administration. The results of a logistic regression analysis based on data from the 2019 AmericasBarometer database show that both perceptions of insecurity as a national problem and experiences of victimization influence voting intentions. Moreover, it is observed that even during the so-called “honeymoon period”, citizens tend to hold the president accountable for the context of violence and insecurity.
