Between 1.1 and 2.1^∘{}K, measured values of the Kapitza resistance R of several Hg samples fall in the range 2.2<RT³<6.3 deg⁴ cm²/W, where T is the absolute temperature. The temperature dependence of R can be accounted for by the Khalatnikov theory as modified to include the lattice specific heat of Hg. The observed magnitude of R is about one-fourth the predicted magnitude. R is different for the normal and superconducting states, showing that electronic processes do make a contribution to the thermal conductance of a Hg-He II interface.
