The differences in amino-acid composition between Bomi barley and the high lysine 1508-mutant are exclusively confined to the endosperm proteins. Despite the increased embryo size of the 1508 seed the total lysine content is not appreciably affected by the changed embryo/endosperm weight ratio, and the amino-acid pattern of the embryo is unaltered when compared with Bomi barley.
